The criteria for the animal to be slaughtered as Qurbani include it being a healthy animal of the required age (usually a sheep, goat, cow, or camel) and meeting specific Islamic guidelines regarding the animal's health and condition.
If your brothers cannot afford to perform Qurbani, you can certainly perform it on their behalf as a form of charity and goodwill. This is known as "Nafl" or voluntary Qurbani.
You can proclaim your intention for the ibadah of Qurbani once the time for Qurbani has begun, which is after the Eid prayer on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah. The statement for the intention for Qurbani is as follows:
"Niyyah (intention) of Qurbani: Nawaytu an aqdira qurbani hadhihi sunnata li-llahi ta'ala."
